Rest day in St. Joseph MO

Not much happening in St. Joe's today. I slept in until 7:00AM and stayed in bed until about 8:00AM, just watching TV. I got up, showered, threw my laundry in the washer and went to breakfast. It was pretty nice watching a bunch of folks who were actually working on a Monday morning while I did nothing. About 11:00AM I set out for the mall which was about a 1/2 mile away. I was looking for some bike stuff and toiletries. I walked all through the mall and didn't find anything so I went out and saw a CVS store about a 1/4 mile down the road so I walked over to it. I asked the clerk if there was a Starbucks anywhere and she said about 1/2 half mile further down the road so I walked to it. I thought to myself as I walked along, When was the last time I thought it was reasonable to be walking a mile and a half to get a cup of coffee? The answer is not for a long time if ever. I enjoyed my iced coffee and marshmallow square while I read the paper. I had noticed a sports store and Office Max about another 1/4 of a mile so I headed over to there after my coffee. I didn't see any bike stuff at the sports store but I bought a bag of heavier rubber bands for my derailleur which has become the talk of the bike tour!! I started back to the hotel but I walked back thorough the mall to have lunch at Taco John's. I got back to the hotel around 2:00PM after walking about 5 miles or so and took my bike out to clean it. The new heavier rubber bands are making the derailleur shift a lot better. I will carry extra rubber bands tomorrow in case I break the ones I have on now. Bruce and I are going to eat in the motel today so we don't have to go anywhere.
You can see what a simple life I am leading. Basically it is: EAT SLEEP BIKE - REPEAT
Not all bad!!!
I am just posting some random pictures today.

I have to tell you that I look forward to your blog each day. I love your descriptive tales and accompanying pictures. You should publish this as a memoir. I especially enjoy the rubberband saga.
